Ideal for the trails, hauling and towing, the proven 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine brings up to 285 horsepower and maximum torque of 260 pound-feet. Plus, Engine Stop/Start technology helps maximize efficiency.
The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine provides excellent horsepower and torque and features dual overhead camshafts, high-flow intake and exhaust ports, Variable Valve Timing and Electronic Throttle Control as well as Engine Stop/Start (ESS) technology.
6-Speed Manual Transmission
The robust short throw 6-speed manual transmission provides a hands-on driving experience that’s both engaging and efficient. This transmission is synchronized in all gears, featuring a multi-rail shift system with a top-mounted shift lever. A vent tube, for water fording, prevents water from entering the transmission if submerged.
The gear ratios range from 5.13 in 1st gear to 0.72 in 6th, with a reverse ratio of 4.49.
8-Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission
The 8-Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission is an optional feature for the Jeep Gladiator, particularly paired with the 3.6-liter V-6 engine. This transmission is known for its adaptive electronic control and Electronic Range Select (ERS), which allows for manual control over the gear selection. It boasts a gear ratio spread that enables optimized fuel economy and performance.
The first gear ratio is a low 4.71, which helps with towing and off-road capabilities, while the eighth gear has a ratio of 0.67, contributing to efficient highway cruising.
TRU-LOK® ELECTRONIC LOCKING DIFFERENTIALS
The Tru-Lok® Electronic Locking Differentials at the front and rear assist in preserving momentum and traction over challenging terrain.
This essentially locks the wheels on the axle together, so they always rotate at the same speed and at the same time.
Additionally, the rear axle can engage in 4HI Mode, allowing it to be locked for higher speed use.
