Jeep's full-size, three-row luxury SUV, now sold under one name in two lengths. Here is what changed when the Wagoneer name went away, how the regular and L models compare, what it tows, and what's new for 2027.
Starting with the 2026 model year, Jeep stopped selling a separate Wagoneer. Every model is now a Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and the base Grand Wagoneer trim takes the place the Wagoneer used to fill. The Series I, II and III names are gone too, replaced by trim names such as Limited and Summit. The 2026 update also brought a new upright front end with an illuminated seven-slot grille and chrome-free styling. The Wagoneer S is a different vehicle: a midsize, two-row electric SUV, not a version of the Grand Wagoneer.
Both lengths share the same engine, interior and trim choices. The L adds a longer wheelbase and much more room behind the third row, which matters if you'll regularly fill all three rows and still need luggage space.

Both are 83.6 in wide (94.0 in with mirrors). The regular model is the easier fit in a home garage and a tight parking lot; the L is the better road-trip SUV for a full family and their bags.

The Altitude and Obsidian appearance packages carry over on select 2027 trims. Equipment can vary by year, so ask us to confirm the features on a specific vehicle.
There is one engine: a 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six rated at 420 hp and 468 lb-ft, paired with an 8-speed automatic. The High Output version offered before 2026 has been dropped, and there's no V8. Jeep recommends 89-octane fuel, with 87 acceptable.
The 10,000-lb maximum requires 4x4 and the 3.92 axle that comes with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, which also adds trailer brake control, sway control, trailer light monitoring and a Class IV hitch. Without it, ratings run from 5,770 to 6,210 lb. That gap matters if you plan to pull a boat to Folsom Lake or a camper up Highway 50 to Tahoe.

Seven seats are standard, with second-row captain's chairs. An eight-seat layout with a second-row bench is optional. Legroom is 40.9 in up front, 42.7 in in the second row and 36.6 in in the third row, so adults can ride in the back row. Cargo space is 70.8 cu ft behind the second row and 116.7 cu ft behind the first row.
