Schedule Service Online Call Service: (916) 512-1170Your vehicle will usually tell you before you have to guess. Every current Ram, Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler uses an oil change indicator that calculates oil life from how the engine is actually used, not from a sticker on the windshield. On gasoline models the owner's manual caps it: no longer than 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first, even if the indicator has not come on.
These are the signs that it is time now, not at the next convenient moment.
The indicator has done the math. Book it within the next few hundred miles and the message resets when the service is done.
Oil ages even when the truck sits. A low-mileage weekend Jeep still needs its annual change, because time and heat break oil down as well as miles.
A boat to Folsom Lake, a camper over Highway 50, a bed full of materials. Heavy load raises oil temperature, and the indicator counts it against oil life.
That is not an oil life message, it is a warning. Check the level and stop driving if the light stays on. Low oil pressure damages an engine in minutes.
Some consumption is normal. Having to add a quart every few weeks is not, and it is worth diagnosing before it turns into a bigger repair.
On a Cummins, the fuel filter and water separator are part of routine care. Those messages mean it needs attention alongside the oil.
The viscosity for your engine is printed on the oil fill cap and in the owner's manual, and the specification behind it matters as much as the number. The Pentastar V6, the 5.7L HEMI, the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six and the 6.7L Cummins do not want the same oil. We fill to the grade and specification your engine calls for.
The filter is the cheap part of the job and the one most often cut. Filter media, bypass valve pressure and the anti-drainback valve all affect how quickly oil reaches the top of the engine on a cold start. A Mopar filter is built to the pressure your engine was designed around.
With the vehicle in the bay, the Mopar maintenance schedule calls for more than the drain plug: tire rotation, a check of the engine air filter, fluid levels, belts and hoses, and a look underneath. You hear about anything we find. Nothing gets done without your say.
The oil change indicator is reset when the oil is changed, so the next reminder is based on fresh oil rather than the old calculation.
A Cummins holds more than twice the oil of a typical family car, up to 13 quarts on current Ram HD trucks, and it wants a diesel-rated oil. The oil change is also the natural time to deal with the fuel filter and water separator and top off diesel exhaust fluid. Diesel owners should look at the coupons page first: diesel oil changes are where Mopar offers tend to save the most.
The Hurricane inline-six in the Ram 1500 and Wagoneer, and the turbocharged four-cylinders in the Hornet, Compass and Wrangler, spin turbos lubricated by engine oil. Turbos are hard on oil, which is exactly why the indicator on these engines deserves to be taken seriously rather than stretched.
The HEMI's cylinder deactivation system relies on oil pressure to switch cylinders on and off. Oil in the wrong viscosity or past its life is a common source of the ticking and rough transitions owners notice.
A Wrangler 4xe or Grand Cherokee 4xe still has an engine that needs oil, even if it runs on battery for most of the week. Oil ages whether the engine runs or not, so the annual change still applies. The electric Charger Daytona and Wagoneer S need no oil changes at all, and still need tire rotations, cabin filters and brake checks.
The owner's manual separates normal use from severe use, and a lot of ordinary Elk Grove driving lands in the second column without anyone noticing.
Summer afternoons in the valley reach triple digits, and an engine idling in stop-and-go on 99 or I-5 is running hot with very little air moving through the radiator. Short trips across town never let the oil get hot enough to boil off moisture. Farm roads south of Elk Grove and the dirt around Lodi vineyards put dust into the air filter. Then there is towing: boats to Folsom Lake and the Delta, trailers up 50 and 80 to the Sierra.
None of that is unusual, and the indicator accounts for much of it. It is the reason to follow the indicator instead of a fixed mileage number from a quick-lube sticker. If you want the full picture for your vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler maintenance schedule lays out what comes due alongside each oil change.
We do not publish oil change prices on this page because they depend on the engine, the oil and the quantity. A Cummins with 13 quarts is a different job from a four-cylinder Compass. What we do publish are current Mopar offers, and they change through the year.
Before you book, check the Mopar service coupons page. Choose Gasoline or Diesel at the top to see the offers that apply to your engine, print or show the coupon at the service desk, and it is applied to your bill. Offers carry expiration dates, so use them before they lapse.
For routine maintenance, our Mopar Express Lane handles oil changes and routine maintenance with no appointment needed, in a dedicated bay under the Express Lane canopy at our service drive.
Our technicians hold ASE certification and train with the manufacturer on the engines they service. The Cummins, the HEMI and the Hurricane are routine work here.
Mopar filters and fluids built for your engine, not the closest thing on a quick-lube shelf.
A Wrangler and a Ram 3500 dually get the same attention, and the same bay knows both.
Current Mopar service coupons are on our site for gasoline and diesel. Bring the coupon and it comes off the bill.
Service is open Saturdays. Wait in the lounge on free Wi-Fi, or take the complimentary shuttle.

Follow the oil change indicator on your instrument cluster. It calculates oil life from how the engine is actually used. On gasoline models the owner's manual sets a hard limit of 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first, even if the indicator has not come on.

Yes. We service the 6.7L Cummins in the Ram 2500 and 3500, which holds up to 13 quarts of diesel-rated oil. The oil change is also a good time to service the fuel filter and water separator and top off diesel exhaust fluid.
The viscosity and specification your engine calls for, which is printed on the oil fill cap and in the owner's manual, with a genuine Mopar oil filter.
Warranty coverage depends on maintenance being done on time with the correct fluids, and on your being able to show it. Service here is done to the manufacturer's specification with Mopar parts and documented on your repair order.
Yes. The plug-in hybrids have a gasoline engine that needs oil even if it runs rarely, because oil ages over time as well as miles. The electric Charger Daytona and Wagoneer S do not need oil changes.
Towing, extended idling in hot weather, dusty roads and short trips are all severe-service conditions in the owner's manual. The oil change indicator accounts for much of this, so follow it rather than stretching past it.
