Dodge Charger 2-Door vs 4-Door: Coupe or Sedan?

For 2027, every Charger comes as a 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan, gas or electric. The engines, power and cabin tech don't change with the door count. What changes is how easily people and things get in the back.

Quick answer: Choose the 4-door if you carry passengers in the back seat often: rear doors make getting in and out, and fitting a child seat, much easier. Choose the 2-door if the back seat is mostly for bags and you prefer the classic coupe look. Both seat five, both use a rear liftback hatch with fold-flat rear seats, and every trim family offers both, so you never give up power or features by picking one.

Each family also has a Plus version as its upper trim. Dodge has shown the upcoming 600-hp Super Bee Launch Edition as a sedan.

The only four-door muscle car

Dodge markets the Charger as the only four-door muscle car, and the sedan is the reason. It has the same power, AWD and performance hardware as the coupe, with a set of rear doors that make it usable as a family car. For a lot of buyers, that means one car can handle the school run on weekdays and a drive through the Delta on the weekend.

Rear-seat access

  • 4-door: rear passengers open their own door and climb straight in. Installing and buckling a child seat is far easier, and adults don't have to fold themselves past a front seat.
  • 2-door: rear passengers get in behind a front seat that has to move out of the way. It works for occasional riders or short trips.

If you have a car seat, bring it when you test-drive. Fitting it in both body styles takes five minutes and settles the question.

Cargo and the liftback hatch

Neither body style has a conventional trunk. Both use a rear liftback hatch, and the rear seats fold flat. Dodge's published cargo figures for the Charger are 22.8 cu ft behind the rear seat and 37.4 cu ft with the rear seats folded. A power hatch comes on Scat Pack Plus.

The hatch opening makes bulky items easier to load than a sedan trunk would: golf bags, a cooler for Folsom Lake, or a flat-pack box that would never fit through a trunk lid. With the seats folded, long items slide in from the back.

Charger 2-door vs 4-door FAQs

Does the 2027 Dodge Charger come as a 4-door?

Yes. Every 2027 Charger trim family, the Sixpack R/T, Sixpack Scat Pack and Daytona Scat Pack, is offered as a 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan.

Is the Charger a four-door muscle car?

Yes. Dodge markets the Charger as the only four-door muscle car. The sedan has the same power and AWD as the coupe.

Is the electric Charger Daytona available as a 4-door?

Yes. The Charger Daytona Scat Pack is offered as a 2-door or a 4-door.

How many people does the Charger seat?

Five, in both the 2-door and the 4-door.

Does the Charger have a trunk?

No. Both body styles use a rear liftback hatch with fold-flat rear seats. Dodge lists 22.8 cu ft behind the rear seat and 37.4 cu ft with the seats folded, and a power hatch comes on Scat Pack Plus.

Is the 4-door Charger slower than the 2-door?

Dodge doesn't publish separate acceleration times by body style. The engines, motors and power ratings are the same in both, so ask us about a specific car if you want details.

Is the 2-door Charger good for car seats?

It can work, but a 4-door is much easier. Rear doors let you reach the seat directly instead of leaning past a folded front seat.
