Elk Grove Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram · Grand Wagoneer Research
Three full-size, three-row luxury SUVs with three very different engines: a twin-turbo inline-six, a V8 and a twin-turbo V6. Here is how the Grand Wagoneer compares on power, towing and fuel economy, and where each one makes the most sense.

Grand Wagoneer ranges cover 2026 and 2027 models in both lengths. We don't list Escalade EPA figures here; check the Monroney sticker on any Escalade you're comparing.
On paper, these SUVs are closer than their engines suggest. The Grand Wagoneer's 3.0L inline-six and the Escalade's 6.2L V8 both make 420 hp, and the Jeep makes slightly more torque, 468 lb-ft to 460. The Navigator's 3.5L twin-turbo V6 leads the standard engines with 432 hp and 510 lb-ft. If outright speed is the priority, the supercharged Escalade-V is in another league at 682 hp, though its towing rating drops to 7,200 lb.
The Grand Wagoneer uses an 8-speed automatic; the Cadillac and Lincoln use 10-speeds. Jeep recommends 89-octane fuel for the Hurricane, with 87 acceptable. Every current Grand Wagoneer uses the 420-hp version.
The Grand Wagoneer's 10,000-lb rating is the highest of the three, 1,300 lb more than the Navigator's 8,700 lb and 1,900 lb more than the Escalade's 8,100 lb. Even the longer Grand Wagoneer L, at 9,860 lb, out-tows both. The catch is equipment: the top rating needs 4x4 and the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package with its 3.92 axle, trailer brake control, sway control and Class IV hitch. The Navigator's 8,700 lb also requires its own Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. Without the package, a Grand Wagoneer is rated at 5,770 to 6,210 lb, so check the exact vehicle before you hitch up a boat for the Delta. Full ratings are in our Grand Wagoneer towing guide.
The Grand Wagoneer is EPA-rated at 18 to 19 mpg combined, depending on year, length and drive. The 2027 4x4 is rated 17 city / 21 highway / 18 combined, and the 2026 4x4 is rated 17 / 23 / 19. The Navigator is rated 15 / 22 / 17. That makes the Jeep the more efficient of the two in city and combined driving, and roughly even on the highway with the 2027 models.
One thing to know: the Grand Wagoneer's Active Driving Assist is a hands-on system. It does not offer hands-free driving.
