Ram ProMaster EV: Range, Charging and Incentives

The electric ProMaster suits routes that start and end at the same yard. Here is how far it goes, how it charges, what it carries, and what incentives are still available in California.

Quick answer: The Ram ProMaster EV uses a 110-kWh battery and is rated by Ram for up to 164 miles of combined driving in the cargo van, or up to 180 miles of city driving in the step van. It charges overnight on Level 2 and DC fast charges at up to 150 kW. It carries up to 3,170 lb. Federal tax credits for commercial EVs have ended, and California's HVIP vouchers are paused until new funding is released.

Range

Ram estimates the ProMaster EV cargo van at up to 164 miles of combined city and highway driving, and the step van at up to 180 miles in city driving. Those are different tests, so don't compare them directly. Like most vans this size, the ProMaster EV doesn't carry an EPA range label.

Real-world range depends on load, speed, terrain and temperature. Highway runs, full payloads and summer air conditioning all cut range, while stop-and-go delivery driving with regenerative braking is where an electric van does best. For a route that returns to the yard each night, plan with a healthy margin under the estimate.

Charging

Charging levelWhat to expect
Level 1 (120 V)Supported, but too slow to refill a 110-kWh battery overnight. Best for topping off.
Level 2 (240 V)The everyday option. Ram offers a professionally installed wall box rated up to 11 kW, which Ram describes as ideal for a full charge overnight.
DC fast chargingUp to 150 kW at compatible public stations, for midday top-ups on longer days.

Ram's Free2Move Charge app helps drivers find and pay at public chargers. For a fleet, the big decision is depot charging: how many Level 2 stations you need and whether your electrical service can support them. Talk to your utility early, since panel upgrades can take longer than the van delivery.

Incentives as of October 2026

  • Federal commercial clean vehicle credit: ended. The IRS says it isn't available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.
  • Federal charger credit: ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026.
  • California HVIP: the ProMaster EV is listed as a Class 2b van with a base voucher of $7,500. Standard HVIP funding is currently closed, and the program says it aims to reopen with new funding by the end of 2026. Public fleet set-asides remain open.
  • California Clean Fuel Reward: offers $7,500 on Class 2b trucks, but only to public fleets subject to the Advanced Clean Fleets rule.

Incentive rules change often. Ask our commercial team to check current eligibility before you buy, and don't count on a voucher until it's confirmed.

Is the ProMaster EV right for your business?

It fits best on predictable daily routes under about 120 miles that end at a yard with charging: local delivery, facilities maintenance, parts runs and service calls across the Sacramento region. If your routes are long, unpredictable or include heavy towing, the gas ProMaster with its 3.6L V6 is the safer choice. Compare both on our ProMaster lineup page.
